Minimalist apartment renovation in Vila Olimpica.

The main goal in designing this apartment was to create a space for musicians and travel lovers, where an old wooden piano could be prominently featured. The family had previously kept the piano in a dark corner with limited access and space for everyone to play together. After consulting with the family and understanding the significance of music and travel in their lives, we aimed to find a way to integrate the piano and travel books into the space, while also allowing them to be hidden when necessary.

Our strategy involved opening up the kitchen with a large island to create a brighter, more inclusive space that encouraged interaction among family members. We focused on creating ample storage space and integrating technical features like equipment and laundry machines behind sliding doors.

For the most important pieces in the house, such as the piano and travel books, we designed a custom-made shelf and a large sliding door that could be used to showcase or hide them as needed.

In this project, we designed most of the furniture, including the couch and the TV cabinet, with the aim of exceeding the clients’ expectations and addressing their needs with a focus on both design and functionality. As a result, this apartment from the late 90s in the charming neighbourhood of Vila Olimpica in Barcelona has successfully brought together the family’s core interests and addressed their main needs with a consistent design approach throughout the space.
